Beschreibung
This volume gathers eleven essays on the spread of Syriac Christianity in Central Asia and China, with particular attention to epigraphy, codicology, and the circulation of texts. Written over the course of two decades and first published in different venues and languages, they are presented here in a revised and consolidated form. Essays previously published in English are reproduced in their original version, supplemented where necessary by additions and discussions under the heading 'Updates'. Articles first issued in Italian are published in English for the first time; their translation has also provided an occasion for revision and expansion in light of more recent studies. The collection as a whole offers a coherent panorama of the Syriac Christian presence in Asia, bringing together dispersed contributions and integrating them into a single body of work.
