Beschreibung
A criminal defense lawyer. A nearly unbeatable eyewitness case. A trial that dredges up the one crime he's never escaped.
Joe Turner has built a career defending the accused in Oakland's criminal courts, but his latest case may be impossible to win.
Allston Walker has been charged with the savage attempted murder of Jefferson Devaney, a racist hotel caretaker who swears Walker is the man who stabbed him. The case looks airtight: a named identification, a brutal crime scene, and a sympathetic victim the jury is bound to trust. Still, Joe takes the case.
As he and his offbeat investigator dig into the evidence, Joe finds himself battling slippery police work, a smug prosecutor, and a trial that refuses to go where it should. At the same time, the violence of the case awakens buried memories of the unsolved murder that shattered Joe's own childhood-forcing him to confront a past he has spent years outrunning. Then the twists begin.
Sharp, funny, and deeply authentic, Blood Perfect is a gripping courtroom thriller about misidentification, trauma, obsession, and the dangerous gap between truth and what a jury is prepared to believe.
"5/5 Stars. A fantastic read for fans of courtroom drama, light detective work, and endings with a twist...that will keep you interested from cover to cover." -San Francisco Book Reviews
