Bonsai won Chile's Literary Critics' Award for Best Novel, and was adapted into a Chilean film that premiered at Cannes. Dubbed "Latin America's new literary star" by the New Yorker in 2015, Zambra would go on to win numerous international prizes and be translated into 15 languages.
