PHILLIP BROWN is Research Professor in Sociology at Cardiff University. His publications include Schooling Ordinary Kids; Education, Unemployment and Labour Markets; Beyond Thatcherism; Poor Work; Education for Economic Survival; Higher Education and Corporate Realities and Education: Culture, Economy and Society.

HUGH LAUDER is Professor of Education and Political Economy at the Department of Education, University of Bath. His academic books include Trading in Futures; Why Markets in Education Don't Work; Education in Search of a Future; Education for Economic Survival; Towards Successful Schooling and Education, Culture, Economy and Society.
