Kate has always loved books, her childhood overflowing with the adventures found within their pages. Now, as both a teacher and a parent, one of her greatest joys and privileges is sharing her love of literature with children.
Born and raised in Canada, Kate began her teaching career with Regina Public Schools. Ready for new adventures, she moved to the UK in 2001. Kate has spent many rewarding years in Leeds schools guiding children through the world of learning. She has supported primary school teachers through her roles of Literacy Leader, Leading Literacy Teacher for Leeds, Advanced Skills Teacher and Senior Leadership with responsibility for Assessment.
As a Primary English Consultant, Kate is now able to share her knowledge and enthusiasm even further. She enjoys reviewing children's literature for her blog, Scope for Imagination, working with authors and publishers to spread the word about their incredible books, and is passionate about helping teachers, parents and children find just the right ones for them. In her series, Developing Reading Comprehension Skills, Kate has created classroom resources that support both children and teachers in their quest to achieve key objectives and prepare for assessment while fostering a love of literature.
