J. Hietarinta is Professor Emeritus of Theoretical Physics at the University of Turku, Finland. His work has focused on the search for integrable systems of various forms, including Hamiltonian mechanics, Hirota bilinear form, Yang-Baxter and tetrahedron equations, as well as lattice equations.
