Beschreibung
This book is a result of one year research on elites and power in South Sudan. Its main focus was to find out whether corruption accusations levelled against South Sudanese officials by various sources including international organisations and experts as well as by the government of South Sudan were correct or just a matter of propaganda by western agencies or not. To my surprise, there is reason to believe that corruption and Nepotism do exist in the country. Two letters from President SalvaKiir dated 3rd of May 2012 and June, 1st 2012 on the same proved this beyond doubt. It is an insider notice on what is happening in the new country. The book shades light on why leaders of young nation decided to enrich themselves to the expense of the poor instead of building the countryto which they badly fought for to liberate from what is commonly known as Arab domination. The research discovered a number of factors that link corruption and nepotism to the cause of current civil wars in 2013 and [...] work also highlight the role of colonial powers in encouraging and building a corrupt network of elites for the purpose of maintaining power and accumulation of wealth and resources.
