Beschreibung
The book contains recent research about physiology,
psychology, nutrition and training aspects of Marathon Running of different
age, gender and performance level. The basic knowledge of marathon running with
explanations of the physiological and psychological mechanisms induced by
marathon training with the associated adaptations and subsequent improved
physiological capacities are presented in a reader friendly format for
researchers and practitioners. The book includes a full range of useful
practical knowledge, as well as trainings principles to guide the reader to run
marathon faster. After reading the book the reader is able to develop training
plans and owns the knowledge about up-to-date scientific results in the fields
of physiology, psychology, nutrition in marathon running.

Über den Autor

Christoph Zinner received his doctorate in Exercise Science at the German Sport University Cologne in 2013. He then served as post-doctoral researcher at the Swedish Winter Sport Research Center in Östersund, Sweden. Since 2015 he is research associate at the Department of Sport Science at the Julius Maximilians University Würzburg, Germany. His research interests are mainly in exercise and training science and the influence of external stimuli on physical performance of athletes.

Billy Sperlich was appointed at several institues at the German Sport University in Cologne form 2002 to 2010. After graduating from doctoral studies in training science and cardiology in 2007 he conducted post-doc studies at Mid Sweden University in 2007-2010 and appointed a junior professorship at University of Wuppertal in 2010. In 2012 he was then employed as full professor at Julius-Maximilians University in Würzburg leading the "Integrative and Experimental Training Science (INTEX)". His research interests include exercise physiology, sports medicine, rehabilitation medicine, human biology, and he has published widely in these areas.
