Über den Autor
Plutarch (c. 46-c. 120 CE) was a Greek historian, biographer, and essayist whose works have remained central to the study of classical antiquity. Writing during the early Roman Empire, he is best known for Parallel Lives, a series of biographies that compare Greek and Roman figures in order to explore character, virtue, and the exercise of power.Plutarch's method places emphasis on moral insight rather than strict chronology, presenting historical figures as examples through which broader questions of leadership, ethics, and human behaviour may be examined. His influence extends across literature, history, and philosophy, with his biographies serving as a source for later writers, including Shakespeare, and continuing to shape interpretations of classical history.
