A telepathic cry for help, an unsolved mystery, and powers that attract dangerous attention.
Years ago, Jacob Daniels crossed paths with Emily Kingman, a powerful telepath. Now, after a brutal attack stripped her of her mental defenses, she reaches out to him in desperation. Emily isn't the only mind she's touched-other minds sensed her plight and they're concerned.
Can Daniels find her when even she doesn't know where she is?
In his quest to provide Emily solace from the voices and her attackers, Daniels is surrounded by friends ready to lend a hand. Yet as they rally to support, a new mystery unfolds. A woman, clutching a faded photograph, seeks Daniels' help in locating her birth mother and a potentially endangered friend.
As he juggles the two issues, Daniels' frustration surges. Emily's assailants continue their campaign of fear, and he finds himself racing against time, often arriving moments too late to avert tragedy.
But helping those in need comes at a cost. The government and the Chicago Police have caught wind of his unique abilities. With every move he makes, the net tightens around him.
Can Daniels extend his aid without falling prey to those who crave his powers?
