Beschreibung
When a suburban vicar "did the opposite of a Justin Welby", and raised a historic safeguarding issue with his diocese, he was shocked by their response. The events that followed revealed deep cracks in the Church of England's safeguarding practices, and this book examines how those cracks go to the heart of the Church's culture.

Stephen Kuhrt is vicar of a busy church in a thriving South West London parish, yet his treatment by Southwark diocese has hampered his ministry and undermined his professional relationships ... but still Stephen refuses to give up on the church which he has loved all his life:
The final section of SAFEGUARDING THE INSTITUION gives suggestions for changes that could transform the prevailing culture of the Church of England and ensure that it is its people who are safeguarded, not its own institution.

Über den Autor
Stephen Kuhrt is an author steeped in the Church of England. He is a vicar, and comes from a family of vicars, as well as being married to a vicar's daughter. He runs a lively suburban parish in New Malden, South West London. One of Stephen's passions is that life should be underpinned by faith, and faith should be worked out in practice. This applies to churches as well as to individuals. He has written extensively on this subject, demonstrating how the best practices are rooted in thoughtful and well-applied theology. As a result he is an outspoken advocate for the integration of biblical theology and practice in a number of areas of life such as child-friendly church, the full ministry of women in the church, and, in recent years, the reform of safeguarding in the Church of England. Stephen grew up in Lichfield and Croydon, and went on to teach at his old school, Archbishop Tenison's C of E Secondary School. After 7 years he followed the family calling, and trained for ordained ministry at Wycliffe Hall, Oxford, before becoming curate and then vicar of Christ Church, New Malden. He is married and has three children. He shares his thoughts and articles on his website, [...].
