Twenty-first-century Western culture is characterized by profound transformations in its forms of collective organization. While traditional institutions of Western liberal democracies still wield significant political power, new forms of collective agency - most visible in progressive social protest movements, but also in the global rise of populism - have increasingly put pressure on established systems of collective organization. Zusammenfassung
Solvejg Nitzke (Dr. phil.), geb. 1985, ist Literatur- und Kulturwissenschaftlerin und vertritt derzeit die Professur für Allgemeine und Vergleichende Literaturwissenschaft an der Ruhr-Universität Bochum. Sie erforscht prekäre Naturen in der populären Literatur und Kultur des 19. Jahrhundert, Klima und Katastrophen, Science- Fiction und Verschwörungsnarrative. Von 2021 bis 2023 leitete sie das von der Fritz- Thyssen-Stiftung geförderte Projekt »Fremde Verwandtschaft. Eine Kulturpoetik der Bäume«, das untersucht, wie Menschen und Bäume durch das Erzählen neu in Beziehung gebracht werden.
