Beschreibung
The Cultural Aesthetics of Eighteenth-Century Porcelain presents new interpretative frameworks for the study of eighteenth-century porcelain. Contributors analyze the porcelain's aesthetic qualities, particularly the way those qualities reinforce and challenge the social processes within which porcelain objects were viewed, collected, and used. The collection covers a broad geographic scope, encompassing not only European porcelain but also Europe's interaction with East Asia, the Islamic World, North Africa, and the Americas.
