Über den Autor
Olaudah Equiano (c. 1745-1797), also known as Gustavus Vassa, was an African writer, merchant, and prominent abolitionist whose autobiography became one of the most influential works of the eighteenth-century anti-slavery movement. After being kidnapped from his homeland as a child and sold into slavery, Equiano eventually purchased his freedom and devoted much of his life to campaigning against the slave trade. His narrative provided one of the earliest widely read firsthand accounts of slavery and played an important role in shaping public opinion during the rise of the British abolitionist movement.
