Über den Autor

Brother Lawrence (c. 1614-1691), born Nicolas Herman in Lorraine, France, was a lay brother in the Carmelite monastery in Paris. Known for his quiet devotion and reflective conversation, he spoke often about the possibility of maintaining an awareness of God's presence within ordinary work and daily responsibilities. His teachings were preserved by those who recorded their conversations with him and later published as The Practice of the Presence of God. The work has remained a widely read text within the Christian spiritual tradition.
