Stoicism was never meant to stay on the page-it was meant to be lived.
The Stoic Rider is a thoughtful exploration of how the timeless wisdom of Stoicism can help us navigate fear, uncertainty, loss, and change in the modern world.
Drawing on the teachings of Marcus Aurelius, Seneca, and Epictetus, alongside extraordinary experiences from her own life, Louisa Swaden explores courage, resilience, acceptance, purpose, and the quiet strength that comes from focusing on what we can control.
Each chapter pairs a timeless Stoic principle with a real experience that put it to the test, revealing not only the philosophy itself, but the difference it can make when life refuses to go to plan.
From racing on the Bonneville Salt Flats to long-distance motorcycle journeys and deeply personal moments of adversity, Louisa's experiences become a lens through which ancient Stoic ideas are brought vividly to life.
Motorcycling provides the backdrop, but the road is ultimately a metaphor for the choices we all face, the risks we take, and the people we become.
Warm, honest, and deeply reflective, The Stoic Rider is for anyone seeking greater resilience, clarity, and purpose. Whether you're discovering Stoicism for the first time or returning to its timeless teachings, this is an invitation not simply to understand the philosophy-but to live it.
