To the laws and commandments in the Old Testament God demanded strict adherence in order to please Him, and failure to do so could and did often lead to the death of the one who disobeyed. And as it was a complete system in and of itself, given by God it had to be obeyed in all its entirety. One could not just pick out the easy ones to obey. Unfortunately, many orthodox denominations today still observe and teach that many of these commandments or other laws similar are still viable but yet equally preach the death, burial and resurrection of our Savior Jesus thereby combining two very different systems. Christ came with a brand new message "Come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest" (Mt.11:28 KJV). Christ came to provide grace and offers it as a free gift.
